My Philosophy:
In my classroom, the students are the artists. They come to the art studio with their own ideas and willingness to learn, and my job is to open doors to new skills, techniques, and awareness of art and artists from around the world. By creating and sharing their artwork, my goal is for students to grow not only in the skills they feel capable of using to create work and problem-solve, but also to grow in their enjoyment of life, their empathy toward others, and their resilience. In my opinion, art is amazing because it can help us learn so much about one another – whether it is a unique perspective from an individual artist, or collectively studying the values of a culture, art can help us begin to sort out who we are, and how we would like the world to be.
